Helping Women Realize Their Full Potential


Dress for Success® is more than just a new outfit. It’s about confidence. It’s about enabling women to break the cycle of poverty. The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Clients can be referred to Dress for Success by community organizations or can self-refer. We assist women that are experiencing transitions in life of all types.

 

All services, including styling, is provided to DFS clients free of charge through generous donations.

Interview and Employment Styling

 
 

Stylingis the signature service offered by Dress for Success. Clients receive one-on-one attention from a personal stylist that will assist them in finding professional attire for interviews and employment. Clients are provided tops, bottoms, jacket, purse and shoes.

Job Coaching

 

Women are provided with individual job coaching to present their best selves in interviews and in employment. Advisement in topics such as:

Finding your strengths

Resume development and feedback

Interview preparation

Conflict and communication at work

Career path coaching

Sessions are provided in person or virtually.

 
 

 

Financial Literacy

 

Kahua Waiwai is a culturally-relevant financial and homebuyer educational curriculum developed and presented by Hawaiian Community Assets. Upon completion of the class and required documentation, participants receive a Certificate of Completion.

Hawaiian Community Assets is a non-profit HUD-certified housing counseling agency.

The Professional Women’s Group (PWG) is a next step for Dress for Success clients who have received styling services. The goal of PWG is provide practical, actionable skills and products with the goal of job retention and career development.

The PWG program is designed around 5 pillars:

Written/Unwritten rules in the Workplace

Work/Life Balance

Financial Planning

Health and Wellness

Leadership and Civic Responsibility

Programs are provided by subject matter experts – speakers who are able to speak authoritatively and compassionately to the topics of the soft and hard skills vital to retaining employment, and to provide relevant, meaningful and actionable information that can immediately put to use.

PWG events are held monthly, generally on weekday evenings and include a meal. Email invitations are sent to all clients who received suiting and/or attended job readiness.
