Celebrate Equal Pay Day at Cafe Julia!
Did you know that on average, full-time working women earn just 78 cents for every dollar a man earns? To celebrate Equal Pay Day on April 12, Cafe Julia is partnering with YWCA O'ahu to address the gender wage gap.
They will be offering a 22% discount, representing the 22 cent gap women face in America, to lunch patrons who tell their server "I Support Equal Pay for Equal Work."
In Hawai‘i, women are paid 86 cents for every dollar paid to men. According to AAUW, women in Hawai‘i working full-time lose approximately $1,673,175,520 every year due to the wage gap. If the wage gap were eliminated, a full-time working woman in Hawai‘i would have enough money for approximately 48 more weeks of food for her family, three more months of mortgage and utility payments, or 2,236 more gallons of gas.
