Volunteer Opportunities


  • Clothing Merchandiser: Sort and size donated clothing for the Dress for Success program.

  • Monthly Benefit Sale volunteer: Many jobs are involved with the sale, from pre- and post-sale work to working the checkout table and clearing the fitting room.

  • Data Entry volunteer: Enter required program data for reports.

  • Job Coach: Help unemployed women with resumes and interviewing skills. Human Resources background is ideal.

*These volunteer opportunities are located at Laniākea YWCA at 1040 Richards Street. Program hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (may vary depending on program). Depending on the area you wish to volunteer in, it can range from 1 hour to 3 hours per week. Many volunteer positions require a minimum 6-month committment.



  • Aquatics Instructor: Swim coaching and working with children on Mondays and Wednesdays, or weekends.

  • Seasonal/Session Administrative Support: Help with registration for swim sessions and summer pool activities.

  • Groundskeeper/Gardener/Landscaper: Upkeep landscape around pool area and plant native species.

  • Aqua Fit Instructor: Teach aqua aerobics, aqua fitness, or aqua zumba on Mondays-Thursdays, and open to new swim classes.

  • Group Exercise Instructors: Instruct in one or many types of yoga, hi-low impact aerobics and Pilates.

  • Volunteer Substitutes: Instruct any of our classes when the regular instructors are unavailable.

*All positions are at the Laniākea YWCA.



  • Day Camp Counselor: Assist staff with camp activities; know where campers are at all times; work to ensure all youth are comfortable, safe, and included; serve as a positive role model for youth. Camps occur on specific dates throughout the year.

  • Program Aide (Gym): Assist with weekday gym activities, sweep gym floor before events, keep gym storage organized, check group into gym, make sure gym and bathrooms look presentable, lock gym after check out.

  • Program Aide (Lawn): Assist with weekend lawn activities, check groups in and out, manage parking and overflow parking.

  • Office help: Help drop off flyers in area, assemble marketing packets, assist with designing flyers, help organize files, answer phones, and help with scheduling.

  • Lifeguard/Swim Instructor: Available on weekends.
